Valuation
The Volkswagen Crafter is a van widely used as a commercial vehicle in Belgium. For the Crafter, the generation (VW's own generation from 2017 or the older Mercedes-based one), the length and height dimensions and any conversion are decisive. Request a free, no-obligation valuation and quickly receive a fair, market-based price.
The Volkswagen Crafter competes in the large van segment. Since 2017, the Crafter has been built on VW's own platform; before that, it shared its technology with the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. This generation change is important for the valuation.
The Crafter is widely used for commercial conversions, box vans and as a camper base. If you're selling a Crafter, check out sell a van or the full Volkswagen range. Is the vehicle coming off lease? Read end of lease: what now.

Frequently asked questions
Not every Crafter yields the same trade-in price. The market mainly demands closed van versions (panel vans) with H2 or H3 roofs, which are the easiest to resell. Double cabs and chassis cabs for conversions are less liquid, unless they are recent and tidy. Manual 102 hp entry-level models do well with couriers, while the 140 hp and 177 hp engines with automatic gearbox are popular with campers and long-distance drivers.
An automatic 8-speed gearbox, especially after 2019, increases the trade value by an average of €2,000 to €3,500. Original 4MOTION drive is rare and makes a Crafter sought after by construction companies and in mountainous regions. Colour also affects the yield: white or silver sell faster than bright company colours, unless the vehicle goes to a specific sector.
Check whether the vehicle has factory options such as LED lighting, navigation, air conditioning or a tow bar. The original factory tow bar in particular is a plus. Buyers in the camper sector are happy to pay extra for an already insulated load area or a second battery, because that saves them the investment.
A well-maintained Crafter can last for years, but a few known weak points can significantly lower the price if they have not been addressed. For the 2006-2016 generation (Sprinter platform), the dual-mass flywheels, injectors and clutch kits are prone to wear after 200,000 km. If a maintenance invoice shows these replacements, a potential buyer will not be put off.
On models after 2017, problems with the AdBlue system and the NOx sensor are more common; a warning light on the dashboard can indicate expensive electronic repairs. Rust on the load floor or in the wheel arches, often hidden under a rubber mat, is also a value-reducing defect.
Check the timing belt history: the TDI engines have an interval of 210,000 km or 10 years for the belt with a manual gearbox and 120,000 km with an automatic. An almost expired interval puts buyers off. Finally, damage to the sliding doors and door handles, heavily used, are common defects that seem marginal but can lower the offer by hundreds of euros. A damage-free history and a Dutch or Belgian service book make a significant difference.
